AIA Rhode Island has thrown
down the gauntlet and challenged AIA Connecticut for
the upcoming Regatta on Friday, June 17th! The
Milford Yacht Club is the site for the unfolding of this drama.
AIA Connecticut is calling all sailors to come defend
its home waters. The event, sponsored by Hayn Enterprises,
will begin with breakfast and a captains’ meeting
followed by the fierce competition on the open waters
of Long Island Sound. Hayn Enterprises,
of Rocky Hill, manufactures Stainless Steel Architectural Cable
Systems, Sailboat Rigging and Lifeline Hardware. Hayn Enterprises
(www.hayn.com) is known in the
architectural field as “Hayn Lines”, while sailors would
be familiar with the “Hayn Marine” trade name.
Defending winner, Harrison Gill, AIA aboard
his J-30, Helium,
is hoping to repeat his victory of 2004. After the race, which
will be officiated by members of the Milford Yacht Club, we will
enjoy cocktails and dinner on the deck overlooking the Sound. The
views are lovely and the company will be most enjoyable. We
are asking AIA Connecticut members who sail to participate either
by bringing your own boat or crewing on another. It is our
hope that the Newport contingent will succumb to Yankee ingenuity
and home “court” advantage. If you are interested
in participating, please contact Louise Weaver at (860) 865-2195.
This is shaping up to be a wonderful event.
